It's hard to believe that 2018 marks my 15th year in practice as a naturopathic doctor! Wow! Time truly does fly by. When I entered the profession 15-years ago I was so overwhelmed with the task of building a practice from the ground up, having no marketing or business background whatsoever. Little do people realize that once you graduate as a naturopathic doctor you are faced with the incredible challenge of running a successful business. Never mind being just a good naturopathic doctor, but being a successful business person often requires extensive marketing strategies such as holding public seminars, publishing articles, engaging in social media platforms, and developing eye-catching websites. Throw a new baby into the mix and you've got yourself a proper challenge!
Fun fact: From 2003 until about 2011, my business ran solely on paper, without a website or social media presence...can you believe it?!? I know, I know...what kind of business woman am I?
And you know what? I always struggled with the idea that my naturopathic practice would be a business. To me, being a naturopathic doctor means connecting with patients and guiding them back to a place of wellness. To me, being a naturopathic doctor means teaching patients and giving them tools to help themselves (very UN-businesslike). Bottom line: health is everyone's right. But how to get there, how to maintain it, is often lost in the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Let's be real here, we all could use our own personal health coach! I hope to be that person for all of you.
But in order for me to help future patients, I need to have a means of connecting. Like a lighthouse guiding ships to shore, I hope this new website showcases who I am as a naturopathic doctor and continues to bring those in need to my doorstep.
Building a website from the ground up is a LOT of work and I could not have done it alone. Over the last number of weeks I have worked side-by-side with Pam to create something I am very proud of. Not only is Pam one of our amazing administrative assistants at Active Chiropractic & Wellness, but she is also a gifted website designer! I am so grateful to her and all she has contributed! So, thank you Pam for all you have done.
